Mes Aynak is the largest copper deposit site located in 40 km southeast of Kabul. Mes Aynak is one of the most important ancient sites of Afghanistan with over 400 Buddha Statues, stupas and over 100 acres monastery complex. The site is also popular for possessing artefacts from the Bronze Age. It is believed that some artefacts recovered from the site are as old as 5000 years.
