One of the most annoying things people do while walking on the streets is head tilted downwards and eyes locked on their mobile phones.
60% of pedestrians use smartphones while walking down the streets.
Are you one of them?
I know everyone once in their day keeps looking towards the smartphones while walking down the streets. It may be talking with someone, talking with someone, or listening to music while walking through the streets.
I can feel like your anger is rising as you read those sentences. But be honest to yourself. Have you never done it? Walked while listening to music? Texted someone while you\’re on the way to someplace?
Pat yourself on the back if you\’re pure and never done that by keeping your phone in your pocket while walking down the streets.
Let\’s see to some facts –
In 2016, a bus driver was over-speeding and talking on his mobile phones in Orissa when nineteen passengers toppled off the bridge and got killed in the crash.
In 2015, the driver was on his cell phone and lost control over the vehicle- fourteen people died while seventeen people got injured in this accident in Jammu & Kashmir.
In 2013, the driver was talking on a cell phone, and the bus plunged into 300 feet deep gorge at Pasana in Jammu & Kashmir, nine-person got killed, and twenty- two got injured.
In 2014, the school bus driver talking on his cell phone while crossing the unmanned level crossing near Masaipet, twenty children and one driver lost their life.
There is no current data available for the many crash site by authorities to record the connection between mobile usage and crashes.
How aware are people about the law, and What influences them?
As per the survey done by the save life foundation, 15% of respondents are unaware that using mobile phones while driving is an offense. 4 out of 10 are unaware of the penalty.
However, 68% of the respondents say that they support the use of high-speed cameras and penalties by police to apprehend the use of mobile phones while driving.
Texting is killing Us-
The cases of pedestrians killing and injuries have risen drastically due to the result of an increase in texting or calling while walking- while we focused on distracted driving now the danger of distracted walking is coming into the picture.
Almost everyone, both male and female, now text or perform other functions on their mobile phones while walking on the street.
Telling the truth-
I can see most often people got their eyes stuck on their cell phones, and yet the result seems to be higher than it looks like. Most of the time people, who glued their eyes on the digital screen are unaware of the changes that take place around their city.
So, here\’s the question again…
Do you look at your mobile phones while walking?
